Since Brexit, UK universities have witnessed an approximate 50% surge in the number of US students applying for courses.

Between 2020 and 2021, there was a 40% decrease in the influx of EU students to the UK, which happened simultaneously with this.

According to a report by UCAS, this increase represents the most significant relative growth in applicants among all major nations.

A student from the University of Bristol in the United States expressed that pursuing education at a comparably esteemed university in America would incur significantly higher expenses.

According to a visa assistance firm catering to US students, this trend has the potential to mitigate some of the adverse effects on universities in the South West region caused by Brexit.

During the UK’s membership in the EU, students hailing from other member nations were subject to the same tuition fees as British citizens, amounting to a maximum of £9,250 per year.

Starting from August 2021, universities have been granted the authority to determine tuition fees, resulting in certain institutions charging as high as £40,000 per year.

Favisbook, founded by Kareem Dus, is a company that assists approximately 3,000 American students annually in obtaining visas for studying abroad.

According to Kareem Dus, the founder of Favisbook, there has been an approximately 39% increase in the utilization of their services by US-based students seeking to study in the UK since the country’s formal departure from the EU in 2020.

In addition to the cost advantage compared to tuition fees in the US, Mr. Dus expressed his belief that the UK’s shift away from Brussels following Brexit and its perceived alignment with America have made it increasingly appealing to students based in the US.

Mr. Dus further stated that as the overall number of US-based students choosing to study in the UK increases, a greater proportion of them will likely opt for institutions such as the University of Bristol, Bath Spa University, and the University of the West of England.

Mr. Dus emphasized that this is an expanding market for his company, stating, “We have observed a notable surge in requests for UK visas from the American perspective.”

“Bristol exemplifies a university that is poised for success in this scenario. Its global recognition and prestigious research reputation position it favorably among scholars. Moreover, the city’s captivating architecture enhances its appeal, making it an attractive destination for students.”
