Samsung may reintroduce Exynos for the Galaxy S24 series

Recently, a report indicated that the upcoming Galaxy S23 FE would feature the Exynos 2200, and a Geekbench result supported this claim. Nevertheless, certain regions, such as the US, are expected to receive the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variant instead.

There could be more to the story. This year, Samsung made an exclusive switch to Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chips in the S23 generation, and there have been claims that the deal with Qualcomm will continue into the S24 series as well.

While the previous information may still hold, there are reports from insiders, as stated by Pocket Lint, that Samsung is currently contemplating reintroducing Exynos for the Galaxy S24 series in certain regions.

Although the S23 FE may utilize the older Exynos 2200, the 2024 flagship is expected to adopt the Exynos 2400.

Reports suggest that the GPU on this chip will have four times the number of compute units compared to the Xclipse 920 of the 2200, resulting in a significant boost in graphics performance.

Additionally, some preliminary CPU benchmarks indicate that the Exynos 2400’s single-core performance is in close proximity to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, while its multi-core performance is approximately 20% ahead.

However, since the Exynos 2400 will be up against the 8 Gen 3 chip, it’s too early to predict how these two will fare against each other.

According to Ben Wood, Chief Analyst and CMO of CCS Insight, he expressed surprise if Samsung opted to revert to Exynos for the significant European market.

However, he suggested that the Exynos platform might be utilized in some smaller markets to maintain Samsung’s presence. Wood also speculated that Samsung might be leveraging these recent rumors to keep Qualcomm on its toes and maintain healthy competition.

The ultimate decision is expected to take several months, and Samsung might be waiting to gauge the reception of the Galaxy S23 FE before making any changes to its crucial Galaxy S24 series.

As per recent reports and information from insiders, Samsung is considering the possibility of reintroducing its Exynos chipset for the upcoming Galaxy S24 series.

In the past, Samsung had switched exclusively to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for its Galaxy S23 generation. However, the company seems to be reevaluating its strategy, and there are indications that Exynos might make a comeback for certain regions in the Galaxy S24 lineup.

The Exynos 2400 is rumored to be the potential chipset for the Galaxy S24 series. It is anticipated to offer significant improvements in graphics performance, with its GPU reportedly having four times the number of compute units compared to the Exynos 2200.

Some early CPU benchmarks suggest that the Exynos 2400’s single-core performance is on par with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, while its multi-core performance is approximately 20% better.

While it’s exciting news for Exynos fans, the final decision is yet to be made, and Samsung might be waiting to see how the Galaxy S23 FE is received in the market before confirming its chipset choice for the Galaxy S24 series. As with any rumors, it’s essential to wait for official announcements from Samsung for confirmation.
