OnePlus, known for its smartphones, is set to join the foldable device market with the anticipated launch of either the OnePlus Fold or OnePlus Open. The exact name of the device is still unknown, but it is expected to be unveiled at a dedicated event in New York in August.

We’ve gathered the latest leaks and rumors to provide you with up-to-date information on this upcoming release.

The design of the OnePlus Fold is anticipated to feature an outward folding mechanism, resembling devices like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and vivo X Fold2. CAD-based renders shared by @OnLeaks reveal a tall cover display and a larger inner panel, providing a glimpse into the expected design elements of the device.

The leaked renders of the OnePlus Fold bear a striking resemblance to the schematic of the unannounced Oppo Find N3, which is rumored to be exclusive to the Chinese market. In contrast, the OnePlus foldable device is expected to have an international release, making it accessible to users worldwide.

The renders showcase a camera cutout on the back of the OnePlus Fold, taking design inspiration from the OnePlus 11. The Hasselblad branding is visible alongside three camera sensors.

The device features sleek metal sides and a textured back with a leather-like finish, providing a sophisticated look. The power button on the sides incorporates a fingerprint scanner, while the left side retains the popular alert slider, favored by OnePlus users.

In terms of specifications, the OnePlus Fold is rumored to feature a 6.3-inch AMOLED cover screen with FHD+ resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The outward-facing panel is expected to incorporate a 20MP selfie camera, situated within a centered punch-hole cutout.

The primary display of the OnePlus Fold is expected to be a 7.8-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1,900 x 2,100 pixels and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. According to the renders, it will feature a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner to accommodate the 32MP selfie camera.

The chipset section is anticipated to be dominated by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which will be accompanied by a maximum of 16GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The forthcoming OnePlus Fold is expected to showcase a primary sensor of 50MP (IMX890) along with a 48MP ultrawide sensor (IMX581), mirroring the sensors found on the OnePlus 11. In our review, we found the camera setup to deliver satisfactory performance.

There are rumors suggesting that the OnePlus Fold will come equipped with a 4,800mAh battery and support for 67W charging, which is slightly smaller compared to the OnePlus 11’s 5,000mAh battery. In terms of software, it is expected to run on OxygenOS 13.1, based on Android 13.

However, it remains to be seen how OnePlus intends to enhance the user experience and introduce additional features to take advantage of the larger display on the OnePlus Fold.

The OnePlus Fold’s pricing and availability are currently uncertain, as there haven’t been any substantial leaks or official announcements yet.

However, considering its flagship specifications and the fact that it is a horizontally folding device, we can anticipate a price range of $1,500 to $1,800, similar to other devices like the Galaxy Z Fold and Pixel Fold.
