voco Zeal Exeter Science Park, set to open in 2024, has been meticulously designed to adhere to the Net Zero Carbon Buildings Framework Definition of the UK Green Building Council, a membership-led industry network.
IHG, with a vast portfolio of over 6,000 properties across 100 countries, is dedicated to assisting hotel owners in decarbonizing and future-proofing their assets. Their commitment aims to safeguard the long-term value of their businesses, generate profits, and reduce their environmental impact.
Karin Sheppard, SVP Managing Director, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, expressed her delight as voco Zeal Exeter Science Park becomes IHG’s first lifecycle net zero carbon hotel.
She emphasized the commitment of IHG and Zeal to conducting business responsibly, providing guests with a sustainable and exceptional stay experience in the beautiful southwest England location.
“This partnership with Zeal comes after a series of recent signings for IHG in the UK, highlighting the progress we’re making with our 10-year responsible business plan, Journey to Tomorrow.
Additionally, it signifies another achievement for voco, our rapidly expanding brand, known for its conversion-friendly approach, and increasingly favored by owners worldwide,” stated IHG’s SVP Managing Director, Europe, Karin Sheppard.
Tim Wheeldon, Managing Director of Zeal Hotels, expressed pride in partnering with IHG on a significant project for both companies and the environment.
He highlighted their vision for Zeal Hotels and eagerly looks forward to transforming it into reality in collaboration with IHG and voco Zeal Exeter Science Park when the hotel opens its doors to guests in 2024.

Under a franchise agreement and managed by Valor Hospitality, the 142-key hotel will be located in the picturesque southwest English city of Exeter.
It will cater to both leisure and business guests, offering a range of facilities such as a restaurant, bar, gym, gardens, meeting space, and multiple car charging points.
voco Zeal Exeter Science Park will be conveniently situated adjacent to J29 of the M5 motorway, and just a short five-minute drive from Exeter Airport.
It will be positioned at the center of Exeter Science Park, which, upon full development, will house approximately 822,000 sq ft of buildings for science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM) businesses.
